Many corporate or school computers lock down software installation. Because the portable version doesn't write to the registry or the Program Files directory, you can run it from a USB drive on a locked-down machine (provided you have basic admin rights for the driver—note that the firewall driver itself does require installation, but this version minimizes persistence).
